If you have been looking for an amazing Keto BBQ sauce recipe then look no further. I could not be happier with this sugar free barbecue sauce. It is so easy to make with everyday ingredients and the taste is something else.

I have always been a barbecue and barbecue sauce fan. Pre-keto barbecue ribs or pulled meats and barbecue sauce were often on the menu. So, I had to have another go at making the best keto bbq sauce recipe.

You may know my other sugar free barbecue sauce recipe I created back in 2018. I have had a play around and come up with this sauce which I feel is my best yet. Try it and let me know.

Keto BBQ Sauce Ingredients

The ingredients for this sugar free bbq sauce are all keto-friendly. You are more than likely to have all of them at home right now. Here is just a little about some of the key ingredients, what I use, brand and why.

Yellow mustard is the American-type you use on a hotdog not powdered mustard.

I use 1/4 cup of apple cider vinegar in this recipe it does add a good amount of tanginess to the sauce and helps to cut the sweetness and fat when used on ribs etc. You can reduce the amount if preferred, but this sauce is perfectly balanced to me.

Sugar-free Worcestershire is available in specialty stores. Use gluten free tamari as an alternative or Vegemite.

I use brown granular sweetener in this recipe.

How to Make Keto Barbecue Sauce

This keto BBQ sauce is a cinch to make at home.

Sauté the onion and garlic until it is soft and opaque then reduce the sauce until it is thick and saucy. It doesn’t take long nor is it complicated.

I have include how to make the keto bbq sauce in the Thermomix as well. The sauce still comes together beautifully it just takes a little longer to cook than on the stove.

What to Use this Amazing Barbecue Sauce With

BBQ Chicken Pizza: Spread keto barbecue sauce over a low-carb pizza crust (like fathead dough or a chaffle base) and top with shredded mozzarella, sliced red onions, and cooked chicken breast. Add a sprinkle of fresh cilantro or basil for extra flavor before serving.

Glazed Meatballs: Toss cooked meatballs in warm keto barbecue sauce for a flavorful glaze, then serve as an appetizer or snack. If you’re making mini meatball canapés, try adding a toothpick for easy serving and garnish with a sprinkle of green onions for color.

BBQ Ribs or Pulled Pork: Brush keto barbecue sauce onto ribs or pulled pork during the final stage of cooking, either in the oven or air fryer. The sauce will caramelize slightly, creating a rich glaze without added sugars, perfect for a satisfying barbecue meal.

CONVENTIONAL METHOD

  • Finely chop onion and garlic.
  • Heat the avocado oil in a small saucepan and add the onion and garlic. Sauté for one to two minutes or until onion is soft and translucent.
  • Add the remaining ingredients and turn heat down. Simmer until sauce has thickened. Adjust seasoning to taste.

THERMAL METHOD

  • Place onion and garlic into the mixer bowl; chop 3 sec/speed 4. Scraped down sides of the bowl.
  • Add the avocado oil; cook 4 min/110°C/stir.
  • Add the remaining ingredients to the mixer; cook 14 min/110°C/speed 1. Adjust seasoning to taste.

Notes

INGREDIENTS
I use Grove Avocado Oil for flavour. Any extra virgin olive oil can be used if preferred.
There is a link to my sugar free ketchup that is used in the recipe however any sugar free or reduced sugar shop-bought ketchup/tomato sauce can be used in this recipe.

STORAGE
Store in the fridge for up to 10 days. Otherwise freeze in small portions and just defrost some as you need it.

    This sauce is delicious. I like it more than commercial bought bbq sauces. I have made it 3 times and use it on lots of things including my keto pizza bases. And it is delicious on our bbq sausages. The whole family loves it. It is very easy to make and I have a bottle in the fridge all the time. An excellent recipe Megan.
