Getting Started on a Keto Diet

Before diving into your keto grocery list, it’s essential to understand the basics of a ketogenic diet. Keto focuses on high-fat, moderate-protein, and low-carb intake to transition your body into a state of ketosis, where it burns fat for fuel instead of carbohydrates.

To start:

  1. Calculate your macros: Determine your daily intake of fat, protein, and carbohydrates based on your goals and activity level.
  2. Clean out your pantry: Remove high-carb foods such as grains, sugars, and processed snacks to create a keto-friendly environment.
  3. Plan your meals: Create a meal plan for the week, ensuring each meal aligns with your macro goals and includes a variety of nutrient-dense foods.

Keto and Low Carb Suppliers and Distributors

Here is a list of the suppliers that we use every month with our recipes. All links are direct to their websites. Some we are affiliated with, and many we are not.

Purewellness – I buy all my gelatin, citric acid, and additional ingredients I might add to my Keto Mojo Electrolytes recipe.

Amino Z – an Aussie company with super competitively priced Whey Protein Isolate, Vegan Protein, Collagen and Essential Amino Acids.

Brain and Brawn – for collagen protein, MCT oil powders, and protein powders.

Sweeteners – I use Lakanto sweeteners and Sukrin sweeteners for general use syrups and erythritol, monk fruit sweeteners. Nothing Naughty is also a supplier of keto sweeteners and low carb fibre syrups.

iHerb – I use iHerb for all Allulose and Xylitol purchases. There are a lot of sweeteners on the market, and it is hard to navigate which ones are best. I do have an article on keto sweeteners and sugar substitutes to help you make better decisions.

Vital Zing – we use these stevia flavoured drops in baking, shakes and desserts. I really enjoy the flavours. The best bit is they do not have the weird aftertaste that a lot of associate with stevia concentrated drops.

Amazon is another great one-stop shop to add some of the harder to find ingredients to a keto diet grocery list.

Plus, we have loads of keto recipes to help keep you inspired.

Your recipe “Gluten Flour Low Carb Bread” looks like “Deidre’s Low Carb Bread” recipe. You’ve just tweaked the odd ingredient to make it look different!

Yes and it is made it in a bread maker. This recipe also goes a lot further back than Deidre. But if you do look in the first few paragraphs I do refer to her and a few others. A lot more work and effort has gone into the development of this recipe.
