Ways to Use Homemade Ranch Dressing
Aside from using ranch as a simple salad dressing, use it in baking, casseroles, and sauces. Personally, I tend to make up a double batch of dressing and use it in my cooking throughout the week.
In The Healthy Family Keto Cookbook, I used it as part of the creamy sauce in the Chicken Bacon Ranch Casserole. In place of an egg wash in the Garlic Parmesan Tenders. A sauce in Swiss Chicken and just a straight up dressing in salads. It is versatile and delicious!
Use this delicious low carb salad dressing as a substitute for mayonnaise in dressings like Sriracha Aioli Sauce, Keto Coleslaw with Creamy Dressing, Kebab Garlic Sauce, and Keto Tartar Sauce.
Variations
- Spicy Ranch: Add cayenne pepper, hot sauce, and smoked paprika for a kick of heat.
- Avocado Ranch: Incorporate mashed avocado, lime juice, and chopped fresh cilantro (coriander) for extra creaminess and a zesty twist.
- Dill Pickle Ranch: Use dill pickle juice, chopped pickles, and extra dill for a tangy, salty flavour. (Or try some spicy dill pickes for an extra bit of a kick!)
- Buttermilk Ranch: Swap in buttermilk or a keto-friendly substitute for a traditional tangy taste, and add extra fresh herbs like chives, parsley, and dill.
- Herb Garden Ranch: Mix in fresh herbs like basil, parsley, chives, and tarragon, with lemon zest for a bright, fresh finish.
- Bacon Ranch: Stir in cooked, crumbled bacon, replace some mayo with bacon fat, and add shredded cheddar for a smoky, savoury bit of deliciousness.
- Parmesan Ranch: Incorporate grated Parmesan, extra garlic, and freshly ground black pepper for a rich, cheesy variation.
- Lemon Herb Ranch: Enhance with extra lemon zest and juice, fresh thyme and basil, and light cream for a zesty, lighter dressing.

Hi Megan,
I must be blind as I can’t find the breakdown for individual spices for the Ranch dressing.Hi Linda, there is a link to the full recipe in the recipe card
Excellent dressing…but I must be blind…what is the actual serving size? I see the recipe makes 15 servings, but don’t see the serving size? Thanks!Hi Cathy, I am so glad you enjoyed the recipe. The serving size is approx 2 tbsp at 40g per serve. There is limitations to the amount of detail I can add in the nutritional panel but is 565g / 15 so roughly around 38g per serve.
