This homemade 2 Ingredient Keto Yogurt (yoghurt) is a bit of a game-changer when it comes to net carb count. With less than half the carbs of most traditional Greek yoghurt, this keto basics recipe is a must-have!

The yoghurt is tangy and creamy and tastes just like natural Greek yoghurt. It is perfect to use it as an ingredient in a recipe, like the dressing in my Roasted Pumpkin Salad. It is also good to serve with some keto-compliant berries for a low carb snack.

Basic Keto Ingredients – A creamy low carb yogurt, made from two essential ingredients that you are likely to always have in the fridge.

The Ingredients in Keto Yogurt

Sour Cream – This provides the tanginess that you find in most yoghurts, but is lower in carbs.

Double Cream – This is also known as heavy cream in the US. Double cream is super thick and rich in butter fat. I love to use Meander Valley Double Cream as it has 56% fat and is very thick and luscious. See the FAQs below for possible substitutes.

Inulin is optional in this recipe but recommended. It is a prebiotic that adds good bacteria to homemade yogurt. You will find it available in most health food shops.

Ways To Use Keto Yogurt

You can add flavourings to the basic recipe to adapt it to your needs.

You can easily make a smooth, creamy sweetened yoghurt by simply adding any low carb or keto flavoured syrups. Some of my recommended choices are Natvia Salted Caramel Topping, Sukrin Gold Fibre Syrup, or Nirvana Organics syrups.

For a savoury flavouring, I love the Za’atar Yoghurt in The Healthy Family Keto Cookbook. It makes a great homemade keto dressing or homemade keto dip, and complements any kind of red or white meat.

Use the same ratio of sour cream and cream and add a teaspoon of Inulin, for the beneficial bacteria that traditional yoghurt contains. This works fabulously to create a thick, creamy and delicious Pot Set Thermomix Keto Yoghurt.

Add some of your favourite low carb fruits to a serve of Keto Yogurt for an amazing keto smoothie. My favourite smoothies are made with strawberries, blueberries or raspberries blended with 2 ingredients Keto Yogurt.

Substitute the 2 Ingredient Keto Yogurt in your favourite tzatziki recipe for a lower carb option that will taste just as good!

How To Make 2 Ingredient Yogurt

This really is the easiest recipe you could make, as you simply mix the 2 ingredients together and you’re done! I often use the gorgeous little glass jars from The Mix Shop to mix it in if I’m going to serve it as is. A jar with a wider mouth is a better option if you want to stir in some flavourings or fruit.

Hot Tips & FAQs

What can I substitute for the double cream?

You can use a heavy or whipping cream, but the yoghurt will be slightly thinner with these substitutes. Pouring cream is far too thin and I do not recommend using it.

Are there other flavourings I could add to the keto yogurt?

You can add just about any sugar-free flavourings you like! Vanilla extract, fresh low carb fruit, sugar-free toppings, spice blends and sugar-free condiments are just some suggestions.

How long can this be stored?

As this is a dairy product, I would recommend storing it in airtight container in the fridge for no longer than the earliest expiry date of the ingredients. As it is so easy to make up fresh when you need it, I prefer to do that.

Why is it recommended that I add the prebiotics and/or probiotics?

Firstly, these will add the beneficial bacteria that you normally find in yogurt. If you add in the prebiotics and/or probiotics and allow time for the bacteria to grow, this will also thicken the yoghurt.

Ingredients 

  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 2 tablespoons double cream

OPTIONAL

FLAVOURING

  • 1 teaspoon sweetener for sweetened yoghurt
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract for vanilla flavoured yoghurt
  • 1/4 cup raspberries blueberries or strawberries, for fruit yoghurt

Instructions

CONVENTIONAL METHOD

  • Mix the ingredients together in a jar for an easy meal or place in the blender and pulse until well blended. Serve as desired.

THERMAL METHOD

  • Place all ingredients into mixing bowl and mix for 15 sec/speed 5. Serve as desired.
